Kanak Jha Powers Into WTT Contender Skopje 2026 Final with Stunning Giant-Killing Run

Skopje, North Macedonia — Team 888 athlete Kanak Jha delivered one of the standout performances of the 2026 WTT season this week, storming into the men’s singles final at WTT Contender Skopje 2026 with a series of impressive victories over some of the sport’s most accomplished players. The tournament attracted a strong international field and offered valuable ranking points ahead of a busy summer calendar.

Entering the event as the No. 6 seed, Jha showcased exceptional composure and attacking brilliance throughout the draw. His campaign began with a commanding 3-0 victory over Marcos Freitas before overcoming French star Simon Gauzy 3-1 in the quarterfinals.

Gauzy, a member of France’s bronze medal-winning team at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, entered the event as one of the favorites for the title. Jha’s composed performance against the Olympic medalist demonstrated his ability to compete with—and defeat—the world’s elite on the WTT stage.

The American then produced one of the performances of the tournament in the semifinals, defeating Japan’s Hiroto Shinozuka 3-2 in a dramatic five-game battle. Jha displayed remarkable resilience under pressure, recovering from difficult moments and producing clutch points when it mattered most to secure his place in the championship match.

The Skopje field featured several highly ranked international stars, including Anders Lind, Darko Jorgic, Simon Gauzy, Hiroto Shinozuka, and Anton Kallberg, making every round a significant challenge.

Let’s all cheer for Kanak Jha tomorrow, June 7, at 9:15 AM PT as he advances to the final at WTT Contender Skopje 2026!
